While not formed by a specific deity in early narrative reveals, it functions as a necessary buffer zone within the cosmic balance, containing threats before they can overwhelm other realms.

The wind howled across the endless sands, carrying no scent of life, only dust and decay. A lone Hollow stood atop a ridge, its mask cracked but still intact against the pale sky. Below, the ruins of Las Noches loomed like skeletal fingers reaching for nothingness. There was no sun to cast shadows, yet the creature felt watched. It opened its maw, sensing reiatsu approaching through the Garganta. The desert did not forgive weakness here; only the strong could claim the silence as their own.

It serves as the designated realm for Hollows, spirits who have lost their memories and emotions due to unfulfilled desires or negative spiritual energy. Unlike the other worlds, this dimension is a vast, arid desert under a perpetual white sky with no sun or moonlight. Travel between this plane and others requires specific portals known as Gargantas, which are manipulated by high-level Hollows or Shinigami. Historically, Hueco Mundo functioned as a chaotic wasteland where stronger Hollows preyed upon the weak to survive. He gathered powerful Espada and transformed them into Arrancars by forcing them to remove their masks. This manipulation turned the dimension into a military stronghold rather than just a natural habitat. Weekly Shōnen Jump officially confirmed that the 'Thousand-Year Blood War' storyline would receive an anime treatment, marking a direct sequel to the original television series. By November of that same year, details were solidified to reveal the project as a full-length television series rather than a film or short special. This long-awaited adaptation was entrusted to director Tomohisa Taguchi for the initial segments, with Hikaru Murata taking over leadership duties for the final parts of the saga. Masaki Hiramatsu was appointed as the series writer, tasked with translating the complex narrative into an animated format that would eventually span four distinct cours with scheduled breaks between them.

The third cours introduced Six Lounge's 'Kotoba ni Sezu Tomo' as its opener and Suisoh's 'Monochrome' as the closer.
